Elsie Gomez Obituary

In Loving Memory of Elsie Mateo-Gomez Sunrise Sunset September 20th 1963 - March 22nd 2024

Elsie Mateo-Gomez passed on March 22, 2024. She was 60. Elsie was born September 20, 1963 in  a Gomez, Alexis Rodriguez, D. Rodriguez, Luis Rodriguez, Elsa Rodriguez, Veronica Rodriguez, Eric Rivera, and Erica Arlene Rivera. Lilly has sadly passed away on March 22, 2024, after a long battle with lung cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully at home in Youngstown, OH surrounded by family and close friends. Lilly was known for her loving and welcoming spirit by many who came across her in their lifetime; she was fearless, loving, tough, and best of all, the love and care she shared with everyone shall never go unnoticed. She was a supportive daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, adoptive mother and friend. She is survived by her 9 children, but also 29 beautiful grandchildren that loved her very much and will endure this tremendous loss in the comfort of family and friends closest to their “Mima” at this time. Lilly's first priority was family until the end! She always made it her goal to bring home cooked food, and family together to celebrate life and love unified. She is resting with our beloved grandmother and mother Inez Ruiz-Mateo, Aunts Edith Amiez, Auerea Irizarry, Olga Garcia, and cousin Alicia Barrnett. She leaves to cherish her memories father, Louis Mateo, four(4) siblings; Maria Mateo- White(James), Inez Mateo-Longfellow(Pablo), Louis Mateo Junior(Cindy), and Harold Mateo(Tracey), 9 children, 29 grandchildren, and her beloved grandson Da’Mian Rogriduez who she raised. Lilly will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by many hearts that will continue to live her memory on. Until we meet again Lil, We'll be missing you! A private ceremony will be held at Youngstown Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church 115 Lansdowne Blvd, Youngstown, OH 44506 at 4:00 PM.
