Irene Elizabeth Sheppard

STRUTHERS — Irene Elizabeth (Ardale) Sheppard passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, and Hospice House with her family at her side.

Irene was born March 10, 1951, to Stephen and Virginia Ardale. Irene was a graduate of Girard High School class of 1969 and after graduation attended Youngstown State University.

On July 30, 2003, Irene married James “Jim” Sheppard and happily stepped into the role of homemaker to her husband, daughter, and granddaughter. A caring woman, Irene was present for all her family’s activities, milestones and achievements. An active and bright woman, Irene also worked outside the home for many years in several retail and fabric stores. In keeping with her caring and supportive nature, Irene finished her working career as a Care Giver for her many clients over the years.

In her free time, Irene enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, and sampling the cuisine at most area restaurants. A talented seamstress, Irene created many craft items and clothing using her skill and her trusty sewing machine.

Irene leaves her husband, Jim, of Struthers, a daughter, Jennifer Mayfield (Oscar Vaughn) of Austintown, stepchildren Jamie (Kevin) McLaughan, Benjamin (Rebecca) Sheppard, Jessica (David) Goth, a brother Ed (Susan) Ardale of Austintown, a sister Linda (Bob) Brock of Pemberton NJ, and grandchildren Blair, Chloe, Finley, Jackson, and Addie as well as many nieces and nephews.

Irene was a member of the Girard United Methodist Church where a private
celebration of Irene’s life will be held May 18, 2024.

Services have been entrusted to Augustine Funeral Home.
